Summer in Zell am See offers something for everyone. This cozy place is located on Lake Zell (13 km perimeter); a magnificent lake with many water sports facilities. You can swim and surf here, and there are also pedal boats, electric boats and sailboats. The water is light blue and has drinking water quality. You can also take a tour of the lake, where you can get off at different points. For example, you can go to Thumersbach, a village with a beautiful park with playground and bathing paradise. It overlooks the lake and the white peaks of Kaprun from the swimming pool.
You can also take a mountain lift to one of the Alpine pastures to hike or enjoy lunch or a treat on one of the alpine huts. If you prefer a little quieter, then the boulevard, the commercial streets or one of the many street cafés offer an alternative. In summer, the city festivals are organized, with live music in the evening, various stalls and terraces as well as magnificent fireworks from Lake Zell at the end.
Summer Kaprun
Also in summer Kaprun attracts many tourists. With its cosy street cafés, nice shops and restaurants as well as with the white snow peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn in the background, you can stay here wonderfully. In addition to the many excursions in the surrounding area, you can also take a hike to the castle of Kaprun (where the annual shooting festivals take place, visit the Automobile Museum or even spend a day full of snow fun on the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn.
In addition, in the nearby village of Mittersill, you can visit the Worlds National Park, where you can experience glaciers and avalanches, among other things. An interactive centre, also for the children.
